Runestone DR 290
June 3, 2021
The carvings of the stone are in the runestone style Pr 1 (c. 1010-1040) pertaining to the Ringerike style.
The inscription is not signed.
The granite stone is c. 1,70 m tall, 1,10 m wide and 0,40 m thick.
Notes
The lower part of the figure carved in the stone is missing. The feet shown here is a reconstruction to give an impression of how they might have looked.
The bearded man probably depicts a priest or bishop. The figure bears some resemblance in its posture and rendition to the man featured on the contemporary Hunnestad stone DR 283 nearby. Thus it is possibly related to the Hunnestad Monument raised by a prominent family of the Gussnava area near Ystad.
