#4 of 4 Ringerike Style Masks: B2

This is the fourth of four Viking age mask designs rendered in the Ringerike style.

Human mask motifs like this one were popular throughout the Viking Age. The Ringerike style period (c. 1000-1075) is especially known for its intricate mask designs. The mask designs adorn a wide range of artefacts like runestones, shrines and caskets, sword hilts and bone handles.
